CMMG is now offering two of its most popular rifles with flat dark earth free-floating handguards and receivers. The barrel, magazine and furniture and other small parts are black for a nice two-tone look.

“Flat dark earth finish gives our rifles a new look and allows customers to further customize the rifle to their liking. For us, it’s a great opportunity to provide something different and further enhance our rifle line-up,” said CMMG co-owner Jeff Overstreet.

The models include the Mk4 RCE, a Recce-style rifle, in both 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington and 300 AAC Blackout and the Mk3 CBR, or Carbine Battle Rifle, chambered for 7.62 NATO/.308 Winchester. Both models combine full-length modular KeyMod hanguards and carbine-length barrels topped with a compact, single-baffle muzzle brake. The barrels and brakes have a salt-bath nitride finish which is harder than chrome and offers superior accuracy.

Inspired by the concept of the Recon Rifle, these guns have 16-inch medium-profile barrels and rifle-length handguards that can accommodate all sorts of accessories while also providing a forward grip for shooters who like to get their support hand way out there.

The KeyMod rail can be used to fix accessories directly to the handguard or used with Picatinny adapters for legacy accessory compatibility. KeyMod is quickly running fixed quad-railed handguards out of the market due to its solid weight savings and much more comfortable grip.

These updated carbines feature Magpul accessories including a MOE pistol grip, telescoping CTR stock and a 30-round magazine for the Mk4 models and a telescoping ACS-L stock and a 20-round magazine for the Mk3. These rifles also use premium Geissele SSA 2-Stage Triggers.

The FDE Mk4 RCE models weigh in at 6.7 pounds dry and have an MSRP of $1,499 and the FDE Mk3 weighs a little more at 8.7 pounds and has a suggested retail price is $2,149. Real-world pricing is usually a good amount less in stores and online.
