Family of slain teen burglar wonders how he’s supposed to get money (VIDEO)

The family of a 17-year-old boy who was shot and killed after breaking into a Miami home earlier this month is upset over the boy’s death and does not believe the homeowner acted appropriately or within the confines of the law.

Trevon Johnson broke into the house, which was empty at the time. However, a recently-installed security system alerted the homeowner to the break-in and she arrived a short time later to find Johnson crawling out of a window in the back.

The homeowner followed Johnson and a confrontation occurred, during which time she shot Johnson a single time. Once authorities arrived, he was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“I don’t care if she have her gun license or any of that. That is way beyond the law, way beyond,” Johnson’s cousin, Nautika Harris, told reporters.

Harris also said she does not believe that was the way Johnson was supposed to die, noting that he was a fun guy, with a promising future, who loved education.

Harris also gave what some may consider an unusual excuse for Johnson breaking into the home.

“You have to look at it from every child’s point of view that was raised in the hood,” Harris explained. “You have to understand, how [is] he gonna get his money to have clothes to go to school? You have to look at it from his point-of-view.”

The homeowner is not currently facing charges.
