Texas Department of Safety chooses Sig Sauer P320 as service pistol

Texas Department of Public Safety is the latest law enforcement department to join the Sig Sauer family, announcing that the Sig Sauer P320 will now serve as its official service firearm.

TXDPS, the statewide agency responsible for law enforcement and vehicle registration, is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the U.S.. Housing 13 divisions including the Texas Highway Patrol and Texas Rangers, the TXDPS is headquartered in Austin, TX. The department is set to acquire 4,000 Sig Sauer P320s in total.

The P320 burst onto the scenes in early 2014 and has since gained a steady following of law enforcement departments. It’s modular, striker-fired design is available in full-size, carry, compact and subcompact models. Available in 9mm, .357 Sig, .40 S&W and .45 ACP, the pistol’s serialized trigger group makes the gun adaptable to various calibers, sizes and grip options.

“The modularity and ability to customize the P320 pistol, combined with the ultimate in reliability and accuracy, made it the right choice for the diverse needs, across all divisions, for the Texas Department of Safety,” Jankiewicz added. “We are proud to continue our long-standing relationship with the Texas Department of Public Safety and honored that they have chosen the SIG SAUER P320 as their official service firearm.”
